The North Staffordshire Regiment was an infantry regiment, formed in 1881 as part of the Childers Reforms, and at the same time as the county’s southern counterpart. During the First World War, some eighteen battalions were raised, serving in all theatres of the conflict. Nearly 5500 members of the regiment were lost during the war, with more than 50 battle honours awarded.
