The Post Office Rifles first formed in 1868 from volunteers as part of the Volunteer Force. The regiment served with distinction in the Great War, arriving in France on 18 March 1915.
Between them, the Post Office Rifles’ three battalions earned 19 battle honours, including a Victoria Cross, but by the end of the conflict, 1,800 men would be dead and 4,500 more would be wounded.
