Princess of Wales’s Own (Yorkshire Regiment)

The Princess of Wales’s Own (Yorkshire Regiment) was formed in the late 1600s, and saw many fields of conflict, including the Glorious Revolution, the Seven Years’ War and the American Wars of Independence.

By the time of the First World War, there were two regular battalions, one of which served in India, while the other saw action on the Western Front, including the battles at Ypres. The Regiment raised eleven other battalions, most of which also saw action on the Western Front.
