Commonwealth War Graves

There are more than 300,000 Commonwealth War Graves in the UK, in more than 13,000 locations around the country. As a keen amateur genealogist and social history buff, they have always intrigued me, and the aim of this site is to shine a light onto the people behind the names engraved on the headstones.

Below are the emblems of over 70 regiments, and the stories of more than 270 men and women who gave their lives so that others could live. There are tales of mystery and tragedy, road and flying accidents, ships sinking, suicides and countless victims of a twentieth century pandemic. Each of these histories represent the life of a soldier, sailor, airman or nurse who was lost too early.
