Australian Infantry

During the Great War, the Australia formed the Australian Imperial Force (the AIF), which included five Infantry Division and two Light Horse Divisions. Made up entirely of volunteers – the Australian Government having failed to introduce conscription – a total of 400,000 men enlisted during the conflict.

By the end of the Great War, the AIF had suffered more than 210,000 casualties, including 61,500 who were killed or died of wounds.
