Modelled directly from the British army regiment, the Canadian Army Service Corps (CASC) came into being in November 1901. During the First World War, the regiment provided support for each of the Canadian Expeditionary Force’s units, and, once motor vehicles became more widely used, took on responsibility for driving ambulances and transporting of everything from ammunition to foodstuffs.
