Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment)

Originally formed in 1881, the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment) had raised 22 battalions by the First World War. Affectionately known as the Duke’s, the regiment served in India, Ireland, France and fought at Gallipoli. Amongst its soldiers, it counted the future playwright JB Priestly.
