Formed in the late 18th century, the Gordon Highlanders has served in many corners of the world in its history. During the First World War, nine of the regiment’s battalions fought on the Western Front. The Highlanders lost 9,000 men during the conflict, and almost every community in the north east of Scotland was affected as a result.
