Household Battalion

Formed in September 1916, the Household Battalion was assembled from personnel taken from the reserve formations of the Household Cavalry. With the mechanisation of the war on the Western Front, a lot of re-training was needed for the cavalry troops, but the unit found itself involved in some of the fiercest fighting there: at Arras and Passchendaele.
