King Edward’s Horse

The cavalry regiment of King Edward’s Horse (The King’s Overseas Dominions Regiment) was formed in 1901, and saw service during the First World War. A second battalion was raised through the personal expense of Sir John Norton-Griffiths, and the original unit was renamed the 1st King Edward’s Horse (although a lot of the servicemen did not recognise this new troop as being part of their regiment).
