The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) was officially formed in 1881, but its origins can be traced back to the mid-1700s. The regiment formed a total of 49 Battalions during the Great War, receiving a total of 81 battle honours, including five Victoria Crosses. The lost lost approximately 12,270 casualties during the course of the war.
