New Zealand Infantry

When war broke out, the Empire was called upon to play its part. The New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF) raised 100,000 troops, and its army’s infantry forces were set up on a territorial basis.

Alongside a national New Zealand Rifle Brigade, there were four infantry regiments, including troops from specific geographical areas: Auckland, Canterbury, Otago and Wellington.
