New Zealand Mounted Rifles

The New Zealand Mounted Rifles were formed as a direct response to the outbreak of the First World War, and would make up just over a fifth of the country’s Expeditionary Force. They were heavily involved in the Gallipoli campaign, with almost half of the brigade of 4,000 men wounded or killed during the fighting.
