Royal Irish Fusiliers

The Princess Victoria’s (Royal Irish Fusilisers) regiment was formed in 1881 with the amalgamation of the 87th (Royal Irish Fusiliers) Regiment and the 89th (The Princess Victoria’s) Regiment.

During the First World War, the battalions of the Royal Irish Fusiliers found on the Western Front, in the Eastern Mediterranean and in the Middle East. The 3rd (Reserve) Battalion also fought against the Easter Rising in Dublin in 1916.
